THIS. EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT.

I don’t think the US Government has really stopped to consider what will happen to its culture if it shuts itself off from the world. How much does the youth of the USA learn from their interactions with the thoughts and creative output of people around the world? How much with the intellectual and cultural growth of the country be stunted by the isolation that this bill makes possible? Third world countries that are just beginning to receive access to the internet are learning so much, and becoming inspired by those more forward countries who put content up for the world to see. To risk taking that away from the citizens of the USA is foolish. The Internet is freedom. The industries who are losing money need to adapt to the Internet’s advances, not attempt to backtrack.

THEY CANNOT SILENCE THE WORLD.

Our generation has the benefit of easily accessible information. No matter what the current authorities say, it will change the world when we take over (how it does that, well, that remains to be seen).

Knowledge, people. It is your best weapon. Learn to love it.

It’s so silly how the world seems to think that we will allow it to feed us “trash” that we don’t want. We want to access our world the way we want it, and we shouldn’t have to be dictated. We should be leading the nations around the world, not being made to follow stupid laws, sacrifice our own money and lives just to get things we want, and then without our permission, have the money we pay being wasted and squandered away down the toilet, why? Because they did it in “our best interests”…

Governments are a waste of space nowadays, even the people that we think would really make a difference, are still people that just fail to follow through, and follow what the idiots want, and not what want the people.

Case in point: Remember 4 years ago, Barack Obama was the worlds hope, people from across the world were routing for him to be the best president in the world in his candidacy, promising change, but in the end, he changed the world in the wrong direction, and just followed the old ways of corporate America.

Again, the same can be said about Deputy Prime Minister of UK, Nick Clegg, possibly the biggest underdog of UK politics of the century so far, he came out with no followers to be seen and then when the time came to it, he fell through and became the (let’s face it) bitch of another state making the same wrong decisions as the last one opposing, and thus losing the integrity of the party he stood for. Now looking at the field, I don’t think we will see a trustworthy prime ministerial candidate for a long time after the fiasco and sham the UK government is in.

Government is a laughing stock at the moment, there is no real link between any government and it’s people. There is a divide, and guess what, no-one who actually does care will ever get their foot through the door to change things, and you know why?

Cause the ones that truly could make a difference, would never be heard, cause the media won’t ever put a spotlight on people that actually will make a difference. I spent a whole afternoon today watching things like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on a whim, and noticed that I could actually have more faith in some of the normal people who I saw in those sort of shows steering our countries right in a day, than I could ever see any politician in politics today, could ever do in a whole 4 year term.

The world is in danger of idiocy, and to be honest if I am a criminal for watching shows cause they aren’t accessible to me when I want to see them when they should be available, then that’s sad, cause I am not a real criminal. I am an average guy in his 20s, I do volunteer work, I don’t use any dangerous substances, I am a normal human being, but I have had my hardships too, but I would never trade any of my life, good or bad, to become a corporate sell-out like any politician. I don’t believe I am a good person in particular, but I’d like to think that I can play my part in society someday and make other people happy as well as myself.

I wish that the people that we put in charge, would actually do what we want, and not what people who are money hungry, who are greedy, and who are just plain stupid want.

A new global treaty could allow corporations to police what we do on the Internet. Last week we successfully pushed back the US censorship bills — if we act now, we can get the EU Parliament to bury this new threat — add your voice now!

So fucking awesome.

So fucking awesome.

After a conversation with me, Vickee and LA about how it was a shame about Trocadero going down in the last year, we looked into why it went down and what is gonna happen now.

Everyone who is reasonably interested in the UK anime scene will know about Trocadero and it’s roots. Probably one of the biggest holders of entertainment in London until recently.

Lots of people know that the famous Funland Arcade (formerly known as Segaworld) was closed and boarded off in the middle of last year, and it was never formally announced to regulars of why, and what will happen, popular speculation was that the electrical outlay for the building had gone haywire and fell apart.

Well after doing a few quick pokes into the Trocadero’s current founders we found out some rather shocking results:

  • Trocadero was taken over by company Criterion Capital in 2005 whose main focus is to raise capital on property, not on keeping the buildings main goals in place.
  • In 2008, the company was given the green light by the government to put together a £100m renovation, with the actual plans hidden from public view till a year later.
  • In 2009, the announcement was made of the plans, turning parts of the Trocadero into a pod hotel, but the plans were not well heard of in the cosplay community.

For those who don’t know what a pod hotel is, this is a capsule hotel in Tokyo:

And here is a link to what we could be seeing in our beloved Trocadero soon:
    http://www.easyhotels.com/

  • In 2010, the Funland floors were closed abruptly overnight and the areas were boarded up soon after.

So basically, under the nose of the cosplay community, one of the largest inputters of money into the centre via the arcade, have been practically betrayed by the company, who closed the arcade and even vendors of the place have been keeping quiet about the hotel plans.

Just so you all know, this is the guy in charge of Criterion Capital, Asif Aziz,

Him and his company have robbed the cosplay community of their home, cause that was what Trocadero was, the people there were like family, and we were loving to each other, no matter what sex, age, race or even upbringing we had. It was a place we all could be one group. And we supported each other, but now that group has died.

If anyone has some free time, feel free to send an email to the company and tell them what you thought about this use of the Trocadero, the email follows: info@criterioncapital.co.uk

We are thinking about a petition to bring back the old Trocadero we all know and love but only if I get enough people replying to this on Tumblr or FB, tell me what you all think and pass it on, let’s see if we can bring some attention to the company’s errors, and show the world what the Cosplay Community can do.

Share, Comment, Like, Fave, Do whatever you have to get this news out and around. Support Old Trocadero.

List your favorite anime and answer the questions.

  1. Toradora
  2. Haruhi Suzumiya (S1,2 and Movie)
  3. Lucky Star
  4. K-On!
  5. CLANNAD

Who is your favorite character in 1?
Taiga Aisaka, one of the few Tsundere’s that actually had her character brought out more than the typical stereotype archetype. Toradora is one of the shows that warms up my heart every time I watch it.

Who is your least favorite character in 2?
Emiri Kimidori, her episode irritated the ever loving God out of me.

What’s your favorite episode of 4?
I would probably say the episode in the Music shop in season one. Lot’s of laughs in there. Followed closely by the times they spend at the beach in the summer.

What is your favorite season of 5?
After Story. Enough said.

What is your favorite ship in 3?
KagamixKonata. It should be canon.

Who is your anti-ship in 2?
KyonxItsuki. No, Just NO!

How long have you watched 1?
I have rewatched it a lot of times, it is only 26 episodes long though.

How did you become interested in 3?
The first thing I heard about Lucky Star was that it was making a lot of fun of Otaku culture and made a lot of jokes about Haruhi and that the lead female (both Jap/Eng) is the same voice actresses for Haruhi respectively. So it was a must see from the same animation studio.

Who is your favorite actor in 4?
I do love the VAs for Mio and Yui. Mio’s dub voice was a pleasant surprise to be pretty good as well, I am a good fan of Christina Vee from her work in fandubbing before she hit the big time.

What do you prefer out of 1, 2, or 5?
Haruhi is the one I watch over and over, But Toradora does hold a place in my heart as I fell in love with it as I was watching it every week. Which I didn’t get with Haruhi the first series.

Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3?

I have watched the entirety of both, Toradora! is slightly longer but Lucky Star has an OVA on top. Toradora I have rewatched more though.

How would you kill off your favorite character in 2?

SPOILER WARNING

In a way they write her out of the series in disappearance so I will leave it the way they did cause she comes back into the series.

If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
Ritsu’s brother, the only male character that exists in the K-ON! universe.

Give a random quote from 1.
“There’s something in this world that no one has seen before. It is gentle and sweet. Maybe if it could be seen, everybody would fight over it. That’s why no one has ever seen it. The world hid it so that no one could get their hands on it easily. However, someday, somebody will find it. The person who deserves it the most will definitely find it.”

Would a 3/4 crossover work?
YES! And it so should.

Overall, which show has a better cast, 3 or 5?
Both casts were pretty amazing, I can’t even really fault the dub cast for Lucky Star. So no comment on that one.
