THIS. EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT.
I don’t think the US Government has really stopped to consider what will happen to its culture if it shuts itself off from the world. How much does the youth of the USA learn from their interactions with the thoughts and creative output of people around the world? How much with the intellectual and cultural growth of the country be stunted by the isolation that this bill makes possible? Third world countries that are just beginning to receive access to the internet are learning so much, and becoming inspired by those more forward countries who put content up for the world to see. To risk taking that away from the citizens of the USA is foolish. The Internet is freedom. The industries who are losing money need to adapt to the Internet’s advances, not attempt to backtrack.
THEY CANNOT SILENCE THE WORLD.
Our generation has the benefit of easily accessible information. No matter what the current authorities say, it will change the world when we take over (how it does that, well, that remains to be seen).
Knowledge, people. It is your best weapon. Learn to love it.
It’s so silly how the world seems to think that we will allow it to feed us “trash” that we don’t want. We want to access our world the way we want it, and we shouldn’t have to be dictated. We should be leading the nations around the world, not being made to follow stupid laws, sacrifice our own money and lives just to get things we want, and then without our permission, have the money we pay being wasted and squandered away down the toilet, why? Because they did it in “our best interests”…
Governments are a waste of space nowadays, even the people that we think would really make a difference, are still people that just fail to follow through, and follow what the idiots want, and not what want the people.
Case in point: Remember 4 years ago, Barack Obama was the worlds hope, people from across the world were routing for him to be the best president in the world in his candidacy, promising change, but in the end, he changed the world in the wrong direction, and just followed the old ways of corporate America.
Again, the same can be said about Deputy Prime Minister of UK, Nick Clegg, possibly the biggest underdog of UK politics of the century so far, he came out with no followers to be seen and then when the time came to it, he fell through and became the (let’s face it) bitch of another state making the same wrong decisions as the last one opposing, and thus losing the integrity of the party he stood for. Now looking at the field, I don’t think we will see a trustworthy prime ministerial candidate for a long time after the fiasco and sham the UK government is in.
Government is a laughing stock at the moment, there is no real link between any government and it’s people. There is a divide, and guess what, no-one who actually does care will ever get their foot through the door to change things, and you know why?
Cause the ones that truly could make a difference, would never be heard, cause the media won’t ever put a spotlight on people that actually will make a difference. I spent a whole afternoon today watching things like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on a whim, and noticed that I could actually have more faith in some of the normal people who I saw in those sort of shows steering our countries right in a day, than I could ever see any politician in politics today, could ever do in a whole 4 year term.
The world is in danger of idiocy, and to be honest if I am a criminal for watching shows cause they aren’t accessible to me when I want to see them when they should be available, then that’s sad, cause I am not a real criminal. I am an average guy in his 20s, I do volunteer work, I don’t use any dangerous substances, I am a normal human being, but I have had my hardships too, but I would never trade any of my life, good or bad, to become a corporate sell-out like any politician. I don’t believe I am a good person in particular, but I’d like to think that I can play my part in society someday and make other people happy as well as myself.
I wish that the people that we put in charge, would actually do what we want, and not what people who are money hungry, who are greedy, and who are just plain stupid want.
